Yes — this unit is compatible with BMW F-Series models from 2012–2019 that already have a factory screen fitted,

❌ Not compatible with:
⛔ Cars with no factory screen (radio-only dashboard)
⛔ BMW E-Series (2008 and older models)
⛔ G-Series BMWs (different product required)
⛔ 2019+ cars with “BMW Live Cockpit / ID7” (newer system)

❓ What iDrive version does my BMW have?
🔶 1. CIC (Car Information Computer)
Years: approx. 2012–2013 (early F-series)
UI style: Old-style menu list, text-based layout
Screen types: 6.5" or 8.8"
Storage: Mechanical HDD
Features: No built-in Bluetooth audio, slower processor, no touch controller
Key point: First generation of F-series iDrive.
🔷 2. NBT (Next Big Thing)
Years: approx. 2013–2016
UI style: Tile-based layout (still not touch)
Screen types: 6.5" or 8.8" widescreen
Storage: Faster flash-based drive
Features: BMW Apps, improved Bluetooth support, faster loading, still no CarPlay
Key point: Same wiring, LVDS, and connector type as CIC — interchangeable for retrofit screens.
✅ CIC + NBT = same retrofit product (same loom, same LVDS, same installation)
🔶 3. NBT EVO (aka “ID5 / ID6”)
Years: approx. 2016–2019
UI style: Modern flat tiles, split-screen layout, sometimes touchscreen
Screen types: 8.8" or 10.25"
Features: Native CarPlay support (on some models), faster hardware, Wi-Fi antenna inside the head unit
Key point: Looks similar to NBT but different screen connector, different resolution, different OS.
❌ Uses a different retrofit screen than CIC/NBT — not cross-compatible.
