Correct setup depends on camera type and vehicle transmission.
Step 1 – OEM Factory Camera Setup
- Go to Settings → Reverse → Camera → Original.
- Set Reverse Wire = OFF.
- Guidelines and radar will display through the OEM system.
- Keep all other reverse settings at default.
Step 2 – Aftermarket Camera (Automatic Transmission)
- Connect the reverse camera to the CVBS port labelled “Reversing Camera”.
- Connect the yellow cable labelled “12V Reverse Camera” to the camera power supply.
- Go to Settings → Reverse → Camera → Aftermarket.
- Set Reverse Wire = ON.
- Leave Guidelines/Radar OFF unless the camera has built-in support.
Step 3 – Aftermarket Camera (Manual Transmission)
- Connect the reverse camera to the CVBS port labelled “Reversing Camera”.
- Connect the purple wire labelled “Reversing Detection 12V” to the reverse light.
- Go to Settings → Reverse → Camera → Aftermarket.
- Set Reverse Wire = ON.
- Enable the following as required:
- Reverse Line – ON
- Reverse Track – ON
- Reverse Radar – ON
⚠️ Note on Flickering (Manual Transmission Vehicles)
- Some Audi models use a CANBUS-controlled reverse light circuit.
- This often supplies a pulsed voltage signal instead of a clean 12V.
- Directly powering a camera from this circuit can cause the image to:
- Flicker
- Roll
- Cut out (especially with engine running)
Solution:
- Install a relay or CANBUS stabiliser.
- Use the reverse light feed only as a trigger, and power the camera from a stable 12V source (ignition/accessory).
- This ensures a constant voltage and a stable image.
Step 4 – Extra Reverse Settings
- Reverse Option Delay: Adjust display time (0–15 seconds).
- Front/Rear Camera Mirror: Toggle ON/OFF if image orientation is wrong.
- Radar Options: Enable Reverse Radar ON if using OEM sensors.
