Connecting Your Phone to CarPlay / Android Auto – Audi Retrofit Kits

Audi A3 8V (BA-AUDI_MMIA38V), Audi 3G MMI (BA-AUDI_MMI5), Audi Concert/Symphony (BA-AUDI_MMI4)
Once your retrofit kit is installed, you can connect your phone to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
These steps apply to Audi A3 8V, 3G MMI, and Concert/Symphony systems.

Apple CarPlay (iPhone)

If your Audi supports Bluetooth calls + Bluetooth media streaming, you can configure the retrofit kit to use the OEM Bluetooth for sound output.
If your Audi does not support Bluetooth media streaming, you will need to use AUX mode (start from Step 4).
Steps to Connect

1. On your Audi MMI, go into the MMI → Setup menu.
2. Scroll down to Use Car’s BT Channel and turn this ON. The retrofit box will restart.
3. Once restarted, connect your iPhone to the Audi factory Bluetooth. Make sure the phone is paired for calls + audio streaming.
4. Enter the CarPlay menu in the MMI.
5. On your iPhone, go to Settings → Bluetooth and look for EW-CPxxxxx.
6. Ensure both Bluetooth and WiFi are ON.
7. Select EW-CPxxxxx from the device list.
8. Scroll down and tap Use CarPlay.
9. When prompted, tap Allow to grant CarPlay access.

Android Auto (Android phones)

If your Audi supports Bluetooth calls + Bluetooth media streaming, you can configure the retrofit kit to use the OEM Bluetooth for sound output.
If your Audi does not support Bluetooth media streaming, you will need to use AUX mode (start from Step 4).
Steps to Connect

1. On your Audi MMI, go into the MMI → Setup menu.
2. Scroll down to Use Car’s BT Channel and turn this ON. The retrofit box will restart.
3. Once restarted, connect your phone to the Audi factory Bluetooth. Make sure it is configured for calls + audio streaming.
4. Enter the Android Auto menu in the MMI.
5. On your phone, open Bluetooth settings and look for EW-CPxxxxx.
6. Ensure both Bluetooth and WiFi are ON.
7. Select and pair with EW-CPxxxxx.
8. Scroll down and confirm the Android Auto connection.
9. Android Auto will now launch on the MMI display.

Notes

• Using OEM Bluetooth is convenient but has limitations:
  • Screen mirroring, AirPlay, and wired video playback will not work in this mode.
  • There may be a slight audio delay compared to AUX.
• If connection fails:
  • Delete device profiles (Audi MMI + EW-CPxxxxx) from your phone.
  • Restart both phone and retrofit box, then retry.
• For wireless stability:
  • Place the WiFi antenna in open plastic trim, away from metal parts.
