🎯 What This Guide Covers
✔ First-time CarPlay & Android Auto setup (wired + wireless)
✔ Why wireless won’t connect if skipped first step
✔ Fixes for pairing failures, dropouts, stuck “connecting” screens
✔ Cable requirements, Bluetooth rules, phone settings
1️⃣ Before You Start – Important
✅ First-time setup must be done with a USB cable
✅ Wireless only becomes available after successful wired activation
✅ Cheap charging-only cables will fail — use a proper data cable
✅ Bluetooth AND Wi-Fi must be ON (even for wireless CarPlay / Android Auto)
📌 Common mistake: “It’s not connecting wirelessly.” → User never plugged in by USB first.
2️⃣ Apple CarPlay Setup (iPhone)
✅ Step 1 – Enable CarPlay in the Screen Menu
Setup → Smart Phone → Smart Phone List → CarPlay = ON
✅ Step 2 – First Connection (Required)
- Plug iPhone into the screen’s USB port using a Lightning cable
- Accept the “Use CarPlay?” prompt on your iPhone
- CarPlay will load automatically

🔄 Switching to Wireless CarPlay (After First Activation)
- Disconnect USB cable
- On iPhone: Settings → Bluetooth → Select device name shown on screen (“Car-*”)**
- Accept pairing request + allow contacts/sync
- CarPlay will now connect wirelessly whenever you start the car
✅ Works automatically once paired
⚠ If you delete the Bluetooth pairing, setup must be repeated
3️⃣ Android Auto Setup (Android phones)
✅ Step 1 – Enable Android Auto on the Screen
Setup → Smart Phone → Smart Phone List → Android Auto = ON
✅ Step 2 – First Connection (Required)
- Plug in using a quality USB-C data cable
- Approve “Allow Android Auto?” on phone
- Android Auto loads on screen
📌 Required: Android 11+ and 5GHz Wi-Fi support for wireless
🔄 Switching to Wireless Android Auto
- Disconnect cable
- On phone: open Bluetooth → pair with “Car-***”
- Allow permissions
- Wireless Android Auto will connect automatically next time
4️⃣ If CarPlay / Android Auto Won’t Connect
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| Doesn’t show up when plugged in | Use a data USB cable, not a charging-only cable |
| Stuck on “Connecting…” | Delete Bluetooth pairing + re-pair |
| Works wired but not wireless | Wireless not activated yet — repeat wired setup |
| Keeps dropping randomly | Turn OFF low power mode / battery saver on phone |
| Android Auto missing apps | Update Android Auto app in Play Store |
| Nothing happens at all | Check “Smart Phone List” settings are ON |
5️⃣ If Wireless Drops / Lags / Freezes
✅ Disable VPN on phone
✅ Turn off “Wi-Fi Assist / Wi-Fi+” features
✅ Avoid keeping phone in Faraday-style metal cases
✅ Restart phone + clear old Bluetooth devices
✅ iPhone: Settings → General → CarPlay → Forget → Re-pair
✅ Android: Reset Wireless Projection settings inside Android Auto app
6️⃣ Known Limitations
| Mode | Limitation |
|---|---|
| Wireless CarPlay | Uses Wi-Fi + Bluetooth → weak signal = lag |
| Wireless Android Auto | Requires Android 11+ + 5GHz Wi-Fi |
| Screen Mirroring (AutoLink/AirPlay) | Audio will NOT play over Bluetooth – must use AUX |
| First-time setup | Must be wired or it will not work |
